After many years of hearing about solar energy, seeing solar panels on roofs, and reading articles about how wonderful it can be, what do you really know about it? How exactly does a solar energy house work? Solar panels collect heat from the sun and convert the heat energy into an electrical current. This process in itself is pretty amazing. Let’s look at how this is possible.

The desire to go green has caused many people to look toward the future and solar energy. Although solar technology has been around for quite some time, including the growing use of solar house panels, most average people don’t know much about it. The price has been rather steep to purchase the necessary equipment to obtain free use of the sun.
Solar energy is wonderful and plentiful. This has been the selling point for twenty years. If you have the right situation to catch those rays, you may be in a position to reduce your electrical service fees by using the sun’s energy.

Back in the pioneer days, the families who settled the American west by homesteading in covered wagons were able to carve out a decent living without the need for electricity, but they were not addicted to televisions, computers and labor saving devices the way we are here in the 21st century. But that does not mean that you have to give up all your modern conveniences if you want to become more self reliant and unplug yourself from the utility company in order to live off the grid. On the contrary, it is modern advances in technology that are making it easier and less costly for homeowners to generate their own power using alternative means.

Many people today have realized the dream of being completely off the grid by combining wind and solar energy. Small sized affordable wind generators are available today for the home user, and they are being combined with photovoltaic cells for power generation. It’s obvious that fossil fuel energy costs are going to keep on rising making it harder to afford getting power from the grid. The time is more than ripe for solar wind energy to be one of the solutions to rising energy costs, and to take us off of fossil fuel energy dependence.
