We have always had free sunlight available to us. But we have always had inexpensive electricity for our homes. But as fossil fuels got more expensive, the cost of electricity went up as well and it continues to do so.
And now, solar power systems, once looked at as quaint curiosities, are coming down in price and becoming more practical. They are also getting easier to find the components to add solar power to your house. Sunlight has always been there for us to use, except in the most polar regions which suffer winter most of the year. But with today’s better technology, the effectiveness and efficiency of solar power technology gets better each year.

One of the most important things that you should be doing as part of your home improvement endeavor is to have home insulation. This is best done while you are renovating your house or remodeling it as it could save you some money, rather than postponing it to later. The few extra bucks that are spent on insulation would save you considerable amount of money in the long run in terms of low energy or electricity bills.

Any Google search on the subject will tell you that an increasing number of colleges, community colleges, universities and technical/trade schools are adding green degree opportunities and solar energy courses to their curriculums. Up until now there hasn’t been a great deal of interest in this field but with the sagging economy and high unemployment in the construction industry people are looking for recession proof jobs and green is in.

There is a very limited likelihood of most of us considering having a roof insulation unless something goes wrong which forces us to rethink our decision. Having a hail storm or a torrential rainfall or a mini cyclone that blows away the roof top would be the only reasons why we would be pushed into installing roof installations instead of home décor accessories and redecorating the house.
Although we spend money on other aspects of improving the quality of living in our homes such as remodeling our bathrooms or installing Jacuzzis which are have far less practical value than having your roof insulated. They are also much more costly enhancements.
